Well here’s my situation. We have a contract with Verizon Wireless for our wireless card to use anywhere in the US. It still has Unlimited (the real unlimited data usage). Well, we currently use it for our business in an area close to the Mexican border yet still located in San Diego County and a noted Service Area for Verizon. We successfully used it there for a month no extra fees. 2nd month, without our knowledge the card was accessing Mexico Towers as they call it and racking up Roaming Fees. So we called in for reimbursement since we are not in Mexico whatsoever. They did a walk thru of our program with us which was supposed to insure all interstate access was off and also an Investigator was supposed to investigate our location and give us an update. He also Explained that a green / red light on the program will flicker on and off – if its red don’t use the service. Crazy but we were will to try it. That didn’t happen – the light stayed green at all times. So here we get a bill of $195.14 which included roaming fees again. Russ called up and they expect us to give up our UNLIMITED USAGE contract to have now their limited usage plan and even pay more monthly because they can’t control Mexicos service – yet this new plan can. HMMM… very phishy to me and Scammish to not honor their contract with us and manipulate the agreement we already have. We’ve decided to cancel our service with them since they failed to deliver the same service according to our contract. I really feel that since they had to downgrade and pretty much rob us of our NO-LIMIT usage because they can’t honor the contract anymore…it should invalidate the Cancellation Fees. I feel they breached their contract to me not covering the Areas their contracts said they would. They sold me on that feature of all red areas on a map having service which is covered by my contract and now saying I owe roaming fees…is False Advertising and really a breach of contract on their end. I could see if I was in Mexico and being charged, but I’m in their guaranteed service area.
SO beware of Verizon’s tactics. Basically verizon wireless charges roaming fees even if you aren’t using the data service outside their guaranteed service areas. Sometimes they’ll reimburse you and then they put the pressure on the spend more money. I’m really disappointed they wouldn’t come up with a solution for my card to block the international towers as they should – instead of forcing me to pay more money for a service they already contractually agreed to provide. Just wrong.
To me – a better solution would be to honor my unlimited data usage contract (KEEP MY TRUE UNLIMITED) and upgrade me to their equipment that can continue my service as my contract said it would, but nope they’d rather me cancel and Use AT&T’s wireless options.
